Soot, smoke, water, pet odor, and tear gas each behave differently and each need a different method. Treating them all the same is how odor comes back.

Overview
Cleaning contents after a loss is not one process. A protein fire leaves a greasy, nearly invisible residue that bonds to surfaces and smells worse than it looks. A wood-fire leaves dry soot that smears if you wipe it wrong. Water leaves staining and biological risk. Each one is a different chemistry problem.
We sort contents by material — textile, wood, metal, ceramic, electronic, paper — and treat each group with the method that suits it. Odor is addressed at the source rather than masked, because anything masked returns with the first warm day.
Kitchen fires leave a thin, greasy film that ordinary cleaning smears rather than removes. It requires solvents and a different sequence entirely.
Dry soot must be lifted before anything wet touches it. Wiping first is what turns a cleanable surface into a permanent stain.
Both penetrate porous material. Tear-gas residue after a police entry is a specialty problem most companies decline — we handle it.
Detail
Fragrance over odor is a short-term trick. Once the source residue is removed, remaining odor is treated with ozone, hydroxyl, or thermal fogging depending on the material and how deeply it has penetrated. Textiles that cannot be fully deodorized are identified honestly rather than returned smelling faintly of the fire.
Common questions
In most cases, yes — if the residue is removed first. Odor that persists after proper cleaning usually means residue is still present somewhere, often in upholstery foam, ductwork, or wall cavities.
Soot is acidic and conductive, so powered electronics exposed to smoke need specialist attention quickly. We assess them separately and advise honestly on what is worth restoring.
After a police entry, CS residue settles into fabric, carpet, and porous surfaces throughout the home. It re-irritates when disturbed. It requires specific handling and is not a normal cleaning job.
